What Would You Do...?

...if you knew you were going to die, and you had, let's say, one more splendid summer?

What would you do?  How would you fill your life?

  1. I would ride my bike as much as I could.
  2. I would spend as much time outside as I could.
  3. I would be near water.
  4. I would read and write.
  5. I would have campfires and watch the sparks from the crackling wood flare up and disappear like tracers into the darkness.
  6. I would want to drink coffee, lots of coffee, and lots of mineral water.
  7. I would want to have a cat.  And birds.  I know they don't mix.  But I would want a cat.  Or a dog to take for walks.  Like that dog I took for walks at the Preacher's Inn in Prairie du Chien.
  8. I'd want to do some exploring: Effigy Mounds, the south park; South Manitou Island.  The Mississippi bottomlands.  Where the ghosts lurk.  Ellis Island, the abandoned grounds.
  9. I'd find the most preciously beautiful music I could.
  10. I'd read my poems.
  11. I'd spend as much time as I could reading with kids.
  12. I'd take a ride or two on the old Badger.
  13. I'd eat at roadside stands.
